Do you think the Bears deserve to be 12th? http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings/_/yea...id=sportscenter It's almost like nobody outside of Chicago realizes half the defense was hurt last year, all the DTs were down, and that started the domino affect. There is no way the defense is not much, much better with the return of Ratliff, Paea, and DJ, the signing of Allen, Young, and Houston, and the drafting of Ferguson and Sutton.

Grossman: 20-34, 197 yards, 1 INT Forte: 24 carries, 74 yards, 1 TD, 7 catches, 51 yards Olsen: 3 catches, 46 yards Clark- 4 catches, 34 yards Booker: 1 catch, 17 yards Davis: 3 catches, 28 yards Hester: 2 catches, 24 yards, 1 PR for TD Defense: 3 sacks, 2 INT's, 1 TD Gould: 1-1 FG's Bears 24-17

Just thought I was start a running thread for the draft to put all our thoughts in one place leading up to the draft as we now have about 30 overlapping threads on essentially the same topic.

If there's going to be a "who are you" thread for the people from BearsTalk to ID themselves, then as one of the mods here, I'd like to add this thread as a place for everyone to say hello. Welcome to this way of organizing the words "Bears" and "Talk"! I'm one of the guys who came over from Soxtalk when this board was created, and it'll certainly be nice to have some new minds around here to pick!

We have several posts all related to Free agency and it starts Monday just going to keep it in one post. We signed a RB Darrynton Evans, let go by he Titans. He has great upside but was sidetracked by injuries. He has 4.41 speed. A high reward low risk player. We resigned 3 ERFAs, Mustifer.... Simmons....Horsted, I was surprised by Simmons coming back. Poles must think he has upside. With us trading Mack, we will either be bringing in a DE by draft or FA, or both. The Colt's have 3 free agents DEs. al-Qaeda Mohammad....Kemoko Turay....Thawing Lewis. Al-Qwas a 6th round pick, the other two second picks. I think one of those will be coming here as a edge pr…

Trent Green Green Not surprisingly, Bill Parcells' ideas differ from the previous model. In the Dolphins' first major player purge since Parcells took charge of Miami's football operations, the team parted ways with Green, wide receiver Marty Booker and seven other players Monday -- ushering in the start of what's expected to be a massive offseason roster shakeup by the re…

from profootballtalk.com AUTHORITIES WON’T RELEASE BENSON ARREST AUDIO Posted by Michael David Smith on May 21, 2008, 10:22 a.m. EDT Law enforcement authorities are refusing to release an audio recording taken during the arrest of Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson, the Austin television station KXAN is reporting. Assistant County Attorney Daniel Bradford told KXAN that the decision to withhold the audio “is based on the public’s desire to protect the integrity of the county’s investigations into and prosecution of crime.” But what about the public’s desire to find out whether the police are mistreating citizens? Benson has claimed he was treated…

Packers at Bears on Monday night. I really don't need to say more than that do I?

from profootballtalk.com BEARS DON’T PLAN TO ADD A BACK Posted by Mike Florio on June 18, 2008, 11:06 p.m. With 2005 first-round draft pick Cedric Benson now having plenty of time to captain a ship under the influence of Captain Morgan, the Chicago Bears have one less running back on the roster. But they don’t plan to fill that void. More specifically, they don’t plan to fill it by signing a veteran like Shaun Alexander or Ron Dayne. “We don’t have any plans to do that,” Smith said. “From Matt [Forte’] to Adrian Peterson to Garrett Wolfe, to P.J. Pope, Matt Lawrence, we like all of our players and those are the ones that we’re going with.” Then …

Urlacher, Mike Brown, Alex Brown, and Nate Vasher- I'm calling you out. Play like you're worth the money you're making, a**holes.

Let's have an official game thread this week

So going into this game, it is nice to see Trestman getting the team there on Friday instead of Saturday. I like the extra day to acclimate and fine tune the game plan. Garza going down may be a blessing in disguise because De La Puente played great. Mills still seems to be the biggest issue on the line based on what I saw last week. This game is very concerning as SF has more weapons than Buffalo and a better Defense. Kaepernick is much better passing and running than Manuel; Crabtree, Johnson, Boldin, and Davis are a tough set of receivers to defend. There defense is weaker without Smith, Bowman, and Whitner, but still very good. We have too many weapons t…

Cutler: 14-20, 136 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT Forte: 21 carries, 99 yards, 1 TD, 2 catches, 47 yards, 1 TD Taylor: 10 carries, 35 yards Patriots 10-7

Right now there are eight teams that are guaranteed to be ahead of the Bears in the draft: Seattle, St. Louis, Detroit, KC, Oakland, Houston, Cincinnati, and Cleveland There are five other teams that could arguably be ahead or behind the Bears: SF, GB, SD, Jax, Buffalo So, that means the Bears will draft between 9 and 14. Players who are probably going to be off the board: Stafford - QB Brian Orakpo - DE Michael Oher - OT Andre Smith - OT Taylor Mays -S Eugene Monroe - OT Ray Maualuga - LB Michael Crabtree - WR (if he comes out) Terrence Cody - DT (if he comes out) Chris Wells - RB (someone is gonna do it) Scenario #1 (realisti…

I have heard a few names that we are pursuing in FAgency: I mentioned Ian Williams in another topic. I heard the name Tashawn Gibson mentioned by Brad Biggs. At the combine they had interviews with QBS: Kevin Hogan Dak Prescott Carson Wentz Jacoby Brissett I would say these QBs tell me we will be picking a QB in mid rounds and he is on that list
